With the season change, time to add a little Brass, Velvet & Plaid Fall In The Entry. Our entry is open to the living and dining areas, so I like to keep the decor similar. Using the same colors and accents ties the spaces altogether. Since this is the first thing you see, I want to make it a welcoming spot with enough color and pattern to drawn you in.
The entry wall is two stories tall, so I like to give it a presence with my furnishings and accessories. I have a treasured console table that was a special gift years ago that helps to anchor this area. I’ve added a chair on the side and an ottoman under the console table. Both can be pulled across to the living room area for extra seating if needed. The painting is quite large and helps to minimize the size of the two story wall. The ottoman under the console keep it from looking too open and leggy. The throw adds warmth and character to the chair and when it is draped down the side, it also combats a leggy look.
The table top vignette is ready for the Fall season with a brass lantern, velvet pumpkins and a pretty fall floral arrangement.
I’ve added a pretty orange plaid throw on the chair for extra color and texture. Something soft against all the other hard edges adds character.
Here’s a peek at the living/dining areas of the space. Check out my 2019 Embracing Fall Home Tour here. Orange, rust, gray and plaids are the dominant theme.
This compliments the living area across the room. By repeating plaids and rust colors, this creates one cohesive open concept area. I think my Brass, Velvet & Plaid Fall In The Entry is complete.

I love your touches of fall added to your entry – so pretty! Happy Thursday, Marty!
I love your touch. You really do make it look easy. It is not easy at all, when I try the causal throw technique, it looks like I dropped something in the wrong spot.
Thanks so much Nonie – I just gather my throws in the middle and then drape them on the side. They fall where ever they may.
We are plaid throw twins Marty!
Happy Fall 🙂

Nice! So true about the leggy look when too many pieces display the legs on the piece. I would like to hear back after you or anyone with this throw has washed and dried it. My throws have to w/d and still look good…..that’s not always the case I have found with many throws. Thanks.
Absolutely gorgeous and so inviting!
Thank you for linking up w us at Creative Muster! Blessings to you xoxoxo Sharon
